Right by the Chengdu airport, there's a strip of hotels and restaurants to accommodate people who needs to stay overnight and have an early flight the next morning. Althought I have relatives that live in Chengdu, for convenience, I decided to stay at one of the airport hotels. It's about a 30 minute cab ride from central Chengdu to the Airport, which will cost on average $50 to $60 yuan.
The airport hotel I stayed at was the Chuang Gang Bing Guan (川港宾馆), which cost $300 per night for a standard room that comes with high speed internet. They also have shared rooms with 2, 3 or 4 people, which are considerably cheaper costing around $120 yuan/night. The washroom isn’t that great, and most rooms come with a squatter instead of a toilet. For a 2 star hotel, it's a little pricey.
If you have an early flight the next day, they will give you a wake up call about 1.5hrs before take off. As with all the hotels in this area, they provide a shuttle service that will take you to the departure gates of the Chengdu airport.
Just an FYI, this hotel comes with special “massage” services. If you’ve never been to China, don’t be surprised to find out that many, many hotels in China offer special “massage” services. At least half of the hotels I’ve been to in China has it. Basically, the “massage” includes anything you might want. I’ve never used it, so beyond that, I can’t say much else.
